St. Timothy’s School is pleased to announce that Mrs. Rishard Wedderburn will be joining our St. Timothy’s School community as our new Dean of Students, effective July 1, 2022.
Mrs. Wedderburn earned a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies, with a concentration on Child and Adolescent Development, and an M.A. in Conflict Resolution and Management from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. For eight years, she worked in the behavioral and mental health fields supporting children and families in the Greensboro area. Her work included leading conflict resolution programs for school-age children, running behavior management systems and classroom intervention plans in Guilford County Schools, and providing in-home counseling for youth and families.
After moving to Raleigh over a decade ago, Mrs. Wedderburn joined the faculty and staff of Shaw University, serving as an advisor, teacher, and administrator. As the Director of Academic Success at Shaw, her responsibilities included managing daily operations of the Academic Support Services Department and leading academic programming and support, student experiences, case management for academic probation, and assisting presidential scholars and honors students with internships, graduate placement, and mentorship.
As our new St. Timothy’s Dean of Students, Mrs. Wedderburn will join our academic administrative team and manage most behavior and discipline matters in grades 5-8 under the direction of Middle School Head Tim Coleman and in partnership with teachers and parents. She will oversee student life and student programs, as well as serve as an advisor and teach selected middle school classes. Mrs. Wedderburn will also serve as our school’s chief diversity practitioner, working closely with our Head of School and administrative colleagues to lead our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the years ahead.
