St. Timothy's School, along with hundreds of other schools and youth organizations around the United States, will be participating in Start with Hello Week from September 24-28, 2018. This week is sponsored by the Sandy Hook Promise with the goal of teaching students the skills they need to create a culture of inclusion and encouraging them to reach out and include those who may be dealing with chronic social isolation.
Teachers in grades 2 through 4 will be presenting information to students in order to raise awareness about social isolation and how to prevent it. In addition, throughout the week, students will participate in activities that foster and teach these important skills.
Students in middle school (grades 5-8) will be participating in this important week on a deeper level with information and activities presented by STS Student Council members. These student leaders are invested in cultivating a community of connectedness and are taking the initiative to organize a week to highlight this important cause.
Start with Hello Week also coincides with the discussions of the virtue of kindness throughout the month of September as part of the STS Character Education program.
