Students Learn the Art of Glass Fusion

St. Timothy's School's fifth and eighth grade art students welcomed local glass artist Dan Hohl to campus for lessons in the art of glass fusion. Glass fusion is a technique used to create art out of glass. Rather than soldering the glass pieces together, glass fusion melts two or more pieces of glass on top of each other at high temperatures using a kiln. The students planned their pieces, then learned how to make their design a reality by cutting glass or mashing glass pieces to fit their design. Once the design is completed, the pieces will be put in the STS kiln to complete the fusion process.
This innovative project was made possible by a grant from the Dr. A. Joseph Diab Foundation.
