Teaching our children how to navigate the world of social media has quickly become an essential parenting skill in today’s tech driven society. Rather than avoiding social media altogether, Laura Tierney, founder of The Social Institute, is on a mission to teach tweens and teens to be their best selves on all platforms.
Parents are invited to an evening with Laura Tierney on Monday, November 13, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. in the St. Timothy's Chapel. She’ll present strategies for parents to help their children win at social media by using apps positively and making thoughtful, real-time decisions with technology.
As part of this partnership with The Social Institute, STS Middle School students will hear a similar presentation during the school day on November 13. In addition, students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades will participate in interactive workshops led by The Social Institute on November 13, 14, and 15. Students will work in small groups to discuss solutions to real-life social media scenarios. They will collaborate with and learn from fellow peers about how to make thoughtful digital decisions, while The Social Institute’s Laura Tierney facilities discussion.
The parent event on Monday, November 13 at 6:30 p.m. is open to the public. Please register online if you are planning to attend.
