On June 1, the eighth grade watched a livestream of the annual awards ceremony. Among those recognized, two students were given top awards: Leo Molinoff was awarded the Headmaster’s Cup and Margaret Lowrance received the Faculty Cup.
The process for selecting the winners of the Headmaster’s Cup and the Faculty Cup begins with seventh- and eighth-grade teachers who may nominate any graduating eighth grader who they believe "best exhibits the outstanding qualities of a St. Timothy's School student"—including overall academic performance, classroom contributions, extracurricular involvement, leadership, service and character (including our core character traits of kindness, respect, honesty, and responsibility). Based on those nominations and a very thoughtful review of each nominee, Head of School Tim Tinnesz selects one student to receive the Headmaster's Cup, and the Middle School Academic Council selects one student to receive the Faculty Cup.
Selecting winners for these two awards is always difficult—with up to a dozen different very compelling nominations each year. Congratulations to Leo and Margaret!
