STS Parents' Kind Gesture Featured on Local News

The STS community spirit is so strong, it’s making headlines! When a group of parents learned of Clarence Turnage's birthday, they quickly organized a drive-by birthday celebration, which was later featured on a local news channel.

Mr. Turnage worked for 13 years as a security officer for St. Timothy’s School before retiring in 2015, and yet he was such a part of our community that he volunteered, worked as a greeter, and assisted with traffic control for After School Care each week and at special events throughout the year. To celebrate his birthday during the COVID-19 health crisis, over 20 cars filled with STS families paraded past Mr. Turnage's home. His wife, who was in on the surprise, led him outside moments earlier under the ruse of looking at flowers. Mr. Turnage, who is in his 80s, hasn't been able to be on campus this school year due to an injury and was moved to tears at seeing his school community again. Video clips and photos from the event were shared as a heart-warming story during the broadcast.  Watch the news clip…
