One of the first things you see as you walk onto the St. Timothy’s School campus is a smiling face. Every day, Security Officers Daria Harris and Patrick Nicolas patrol the grounds to keep our children safe and sound. But these officers do so much more than protect our children—they brighten everyone’s day with their positivity.
This year, St. Timothy’s is pleased to announce that Officers Harris and Nicolas have joined our full-time staff. We want you to get to know them as more than friendly faces about campus. Read on to enjoy a short question and answer session with Officers Harris (DH) and Nicolas (PN).
Tell us about your family.
DH: I’m a mother of three beautiful daughters and I have two dogs. I’m the youngest of seven.
PN: I have a son who is 22 years old and a 14-year-old Maltipoo. My son is a DJ and a boxer. I’m also very close to my parents, who live in Staten Island, NY.
What do you enjoy about your job?
DH: I enjoy interacting with kids. My favorite part of working at St. Timothy’s is that we’re one big family.
PN: My favorite part about the job is to protect, serve and assist the School. Every day, I enjoy working in a positive environment and being a member of the STS family. As a former teacher, it feels right to be working at a school again.
Officer Nicolas taught Basic Electronics at a technical school in Haiti for a mix of 11th graders,12th graders and college-level students.
What’s the best thing that’s happened to you this year?
DH: I was blessed to have my eldest daughter start attending East Carolina University to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse.
What would your dream vacation be like?
PN: My dream vacation would be spending two weeks visiting Iceland with my fiancée and son.
Why did you want to be a security officer?
DH: I’ve always enjoyed helping and protecting others but I didn’t want to go into law enforcement. Becoming a security officer was the next best thing.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with the St. Timothy’s family?
PN: I am a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and I was a martial arts instructor for 11 years. I also practice Karate and little bit of Kendo.
We are blessed to have Officers Harris and Nicolas safeguarding our campus.
