St. Timothy's School is pleased to announce that the Whole Kids Foundation has awarded a $2,000 grant for the St. Timothy's School Learning Garden. CeCe Morgan, STS Learning Garden Coordinator and Pre-K Assistant, along with Shana Filter, STS Capital Campaign Director, traveled to Mt. Olive, NC to attend the Whole Kids Foundation grant awards ceremony. Out of 1300 applications, 600 schools were awarded grants.
Founded by Whole Foods Market, the Whole Kids Foundation's mission is to support schools and inspire families to improve children's nutrition and wellness.
"The Learning Garden is a great opportunity to teach our children about making healthy food choices," commented Ms. Morgan. "It's also a lot of fun for the kids to get their hands dirty in the garden and some fresh air and exercise during the day."
The children's participation in the garden includes planting, growing, watering, weeding, and nutritional lessons. The grant funding from the Whole Kids Foundation will enable St. Timothy's to purchase additional supplies such as spades and gloves for the children and seeds for the garden.
