Admissions | Admissions Requirements

St. Timothy’s School seeks students who have the ability to excel academically and to benefit from the school’s program. The admission policy is non-discriminatory with regard to race, color, religion, gender, and national origin. Students are admitted on the basis of previous school reports, standardized test scores, a personal interview, and other relevant information.

Admissions Requirements

  1. Assemble and submit documents:
    Jr. Kindergarten and Kindergarten: Submit an application and recommendation form.
    Grades 1-8: An application form, recommendation form(s) (to be completed by a classroom teacher), report cards showing final grades from the previous two years, the most recent report cards received this current year, and any available standardized test results. Two classroom writing samples (grades 2-8).
  2. Arrange an appointment for an interview and campus tour, (919) 781-0531.  Bring documents at this time or mail copies prior to interview.
  3. Jr. Kindergarten and Kindergarten: Schedule a day to be evaluated. Grades 1-8: Schedule admission test and student visiting days.
  4. The Enrollment Deposit (a portion of the total tuition) is due upon acceptance of the student and when completing the tuition contracts.

Process: General

  • Copies of report cards, teacher recommendations, and any available standardized test results are also required.
Jr. Kindergarten and Kindergarten

During the month of December, Kindergarten applicants are invited to our campus for a group visit. Jr. Kindergarten applicants come to the campus for their group visit in early January. Groups of 6 children and 3 faculty members will work and play together in a kindergarten classroom. Activities will include a musical activity, drawing, and interacting with the other children. The visit will last one hour and gives us an opportunity to see the children in a classroom setting.

1st Grade

First grade applicants will visit with a kindergarten class from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. They will be paired with a buddy for the day.

Grades 2- 5

Applicants for grades 2-5 visit for two days in the students’ current grade level, with a short time spent each morning taking the admissions test. Each student visitor is paired with a buddy for the day, and will visit from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Grades 6-8

Applicants for grades 6-8 spend a morning taking the admissions test. At a later date, the applicants shadow a student in his/her current grade level. This is an all day visit (7:50 a.m.-2:45 p.m.).
