This committee works in conjunction with the Art Teachers. The children create original art works that can be printed on T-shirts, magnets, aprons, notepaper and a wide variety of other products. The committee prepares the order packets that are sent home to families, coordinates the completed orders and oversees delivery of the order merchandise to families. Volunteers are needed to help with order processing and delivery.
This is an enrichment and fundraising event.

Balloon Day is scheduled on or near Valentine’s Day and is a fundraiser for the Student Council. This committee helps to coordinate the sale of balloons, the sorting of cards for balloon recipients, and the actual inflating of balloons. It takes many parent volunteers to prepare the balloon bouquets for all the students, faculty and staff.
This is a fundraising and support event.

This committee plans and organizes an exciting and fun-filled evening for the whole family. The evening begins with dinner in the dining hall then moves to the gym for action-packed games of Bingo and the most awesome raffle baskets you’ve ever seen. Volunteers help plan the event, decorate the gym, serve as Table Captains during the Bingo games and work in the concession stands. Volunteers are also needed to sell raffle tickets, serve the pre-ordered dinners, and sell Bingo cards the night of the event.

This committee works in conjunction with the school librarian and Quail Ridge Books to put on a Book Fair featuring many exciting titles and quality books for children at all reading levels. Book Fair starts on the Sunday of Spring Open House and runs through the following week. Volunteers are needed to help set up book displays in the Multi-Purpose Room and man the Book Fair before school, at various times throughout the week, and after school.

This committee hosts a camp fair in January (usually the same night as the Science Fair) that provides information, brochures and applications for area camps and popular boarding camp destinations. Volunteers are needed to contact camps and help set up the fair the day of the event.

This committee works with the 3rd and 4th grade room parents to coordinate the organization, distribution and storage of the Christmas Pageant Costumes.

This committee provides enrichment programs for students featuring all types of artists. Programs are age appropriate and held during the school day. Past programs have included storytellers, music, writers-in-residence and other artists. Volunteers are needed to assist on performance days and with the artists’ pre-performance preparations. The Cultural Arts committee also coordinates the sale of specially priced NC Symphony and NC Ballet tickets.

On the second Tuesday and Wednesday of every month (except December) Friends sells cupcakes for 25 cents during the students’ lunch periods. Cupcakes are prepared by parents from different classes each month and are traditionally iced and decorated in a child-friendly motif. Volunteers are needed to collect cupcakes during morning drop-off and to help sell cupcakes during the lunch periods. No peanuts or peanut butter in or on the cupcakes!

This committee is responsible for the reception following the eighth grade graduation ceremony at St. Timothy’s Church. Volunteers are seventh grade parents who coordinate the food and drink and act as hosts and hostesses for the eighth graders, their parents, and invited guests.

This committee plans special lunches and breakfasts for faculty and staff throughout the year. This committee also provides birthday treats and special occasion remembrances for members of the staff. Volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve breakfasts and/or lunches and to assist with special gift treats.

Fall Festival, scheduled on or near Halloween, is an afternoon of food, fun, amusements and games for the whole family. Following the 11:30/11:45 AM dismissal, a carnival takes place on the school grounds with activities and games for kids of all ages. A catered lunch is served in the dining hall. Volunteers help plan, decorate, and work various shifts throughout the event.

This committee assists the art, drama, band and music teachers in various ways. Volunteers help cut mats, frame artwork and set up artwork for on and off campus displays. Volunteers assist with costumes, props and performances in the drama, band and music departments.

This event was established in 2003 to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the founding of St. Timothy’s School. It now serves as Friends’ primary fundraising event. This Saturday evening event for adults combines a mixture of food, fun, music, and auction activity as a culmination of the school year. Volunteers obtain auction items and supervise class projects for the auction. Volunteers also organize, set up, clean up and work shifts at the event.

For a week during the Christmas holiday shopping season, students can purchase Christmas gifts for family members and friends during the school day. Volunteers wrap the gifts so students can bring home Christmas surprises! Volunteers are needed to help run the store and wrap gifts. Volunteers also shop post Christmas sales to stock the store for next year.

This committee helps the families of St. Timothy’s, students, faculty or staff in times of need. This committee sends cards and provides assistance with whatever is needed such as food, rides to and from school, etc.

Gift Wrap Sale (giftwrap@sttimothys.org):

The Gift Wrap committee oversees the promotion, ordering and distribution of one of Friends’ largest annual fundraising events. The sale of high-quality Innisbrook all-occasion gift wrap and gift products is a tradition at St. Timothy’s School and provides important funds to assist Friends in financing many of the enrichment opportunities for the school. Volunteers are needed to help promote the gift wrap sale, prepare the packets to send home with students, and deliver the gift wrap products when received at the school.

This committee investigates, educates, evaluates and implements “green living” throughout STS. They work to create critical mass within the STS community that Green is a way of life and not a series of episodes. Volunteers are needed to monitor the progress of campus-wide efforts to reduce energy use and waste management implications via maintenance of spreadsheets. They also seek out grants, pilot projects, and student involvement in making the school and the planet a healthier, greener place to live. They coordinate judging and awarding projects for the Science Fair Green Award. This committee hopes to continue to save the school thousands of dollars through dedication and hard work.

In conjunction with the foreign language faculty, this committee sponsors the school’s International Festival to enrich the students’ understanding and appreciation of other countries, cultures, foods and customs of people throughout the world with tolerance, good will and acceptance. Students will learn to embrace the differences and celebrate the similarities that make them citizens of the world. Volunteers will help plan and execute the week-long festival of outside entertainers and events culminating in a day-long “tour of the world.”

The Library Committee provides assistance to the school media specialist as needed in the library. Through the year volunteers may help younger students find books, shelve books, maintain the library, or even read to the children. The library committee also provides support for the 3rd and 4th grade Honors Reading program. Students who successfully complete the reading program receive a t-shirt. Volunteers host an ice cream party for those students by helping to set up, serve, oversee, and clean up the party.

This committee checks the Lost and Found area regularly and attempts to reunite lost items with their owners. Items with children’s names on them are sent to the child’s classroom. Other items are shelved in the Lost and Found area to be claimed. Items still unclaimed the week prior to Christmas break and the week prior to the end of school will be donated to charity or sold at the Used Uniform Sale. Volunteers are needed to help sort and distribute labeled items and to prepare unclaimed items for delivery to charity.

This committee assists various Friends committees that are in need of extra volunteers for specific tasks or events. This is a great committee for any parent who would like to be “on call” for Friends when extra volunteer help is needed!

This committee assists the Director of Admissions with Open House, a Sunday afternoon in the spring when family, friends and the families of prospective students are invited to visit the school. Volunteers are stationed throughout the campus to assist families when questions arise. Volunteers also help decorate and serve refreshments.

This committee is responsible for coordinating the pizza lunch on Mondays. Volunteers are needed to help put together the lunch order in the morning after drop-off and to serve the pizza during all three lunch periods.

This committee works closely with the Science teachers to plan a school science fair. Projects are judged by local scientists who are unaffiliated with the school and are chosen by the Science teachers. Winning projects will go on to regional science fair competitions. Volunteers organize help sessions and assist in project selection. Volunteers also coordinate check in, set up, clean up, and help judges as needed.

This committee assists Student Council in organizing, preparing and decorating for Spirit Week – a week in January/February where the school community and alumni celebrate the St. Timothy’s Titans’ school spirit.

The Summer Math committee hosts a bagel breakfast to honor those in grades 1 through 6 who successfully complete a packet of math problems during summer vacation. The Summer Math chairs work with the math teachers in the spring to prepare and distribute the Summer Math materials for the following summer. Volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve the bagel breakfast.

The Summer Reading committee chairs work with the reading teachers and the librarian to prepare summer reading program material for children in rising grades 1-8. The material is posted in the FYI and on the St. Timothy’s website prior to the end of the school year. An ice cream social is held in September to honor those students who successfully complete the program. Volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve the ice cream at the social during the afternoon.

The Friends’ T-shirt committee creates a Friends sponsored T-shirt that is approved by the school to be worn as an optional uniform shirt on designated days. An order form is sent home in August, and T-shirts are distributed during the first month on school. Volunteers help sort and deliver the T-shirts.

Titan Bucks is a program which offers gift cards for purchase at face value to use at gas stations, grocery stores, coffee shops and more. Titan Bucks’ participating retailers agree to sell gift cards to our school at a discount. You buy the cards for full face value and redeem them for full face value, and St. Timothy’s keeps the difference as revenue. Volunteers promote, sell, order, and distribute the gift cards throughout the year.

This committee plans, promotes and organizes the sale of used and outgrown uniforms. Volunteers are needed to prepare, sort and sell used uniforms. A portion of the proceeds from the sale goes to the Margaret Evans Scholarship Fund.

The Welcome Committee hosts Meet the Teacher Night receptions in the fall for new and returning St. Timothy’s parents. The Welcome Committee also contacts all new parents to welcome them to the school family and to assist them with any questions they might have. Volunteers who have been at the school for at least one year are needed at Meet the Teacher Night receptions to help with preparing food, set up and clean up.
